Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She's co-founder and CEO of Thrive Global, as well as the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a philanthropist and author TV personality, and the owner of the liberally independent online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. Born in Greece Arianna Huffington came to England with her family when she was age 16. When she attended Cambridge University she earned a MA diploma in Economics. Being the first non-English-speaking student to graduate, she was voted to the presidency of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. Then she became a conservative syndicated writer following her graduation and, when The Huffington Post launched a few years afterwards, she was able to create an online platform for voice that provided criticisms of political situations. The fame of her name helped in bringing on a host of well-known contributors to post their views on politics news and culture. Arianna got noticed after she decided in 2003 to run as an Independent Candidate in the California Recall election to succeed Governor Davis. Alongside this she was also the director of the Detroit Project to promote fuel-efficient vehicles. In 2009 she was recognized by Forbes as The most influential women in the media, achieving 12th spot on the list and in the same year, the Guardian named her to the top 100 of the media lists. In 2011 AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post and made her president of that media division, which contained many that were then AOL products, such as Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. Parents were Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos. Konstantinos was a business consultant and journalist. Although she had a close friendship with both her parents, it was their bond that helped shape her. From her childhood she showed the qualities of a leader for which she is now well-known. When she turned 16 she emigrated to the United Kingdom to pursue her studies. She enrolled into Girton College Cambridge. In her time at college she joined the Cambridge Union debating group where she became the first female president, and also the sole foreign president. She graduated in 1972 with the degree of Master in Economics. She became a writer, a critic television host, and columnist upon her graduation.
